Sand Flat Campground is located in Stanislaus National Forest along the Clark Fork of the Stanislaus River, approximately 6 miles from the junction of Clark Fork Road and Highway 108, and about 25 miles east of the Summit Ranger Station. The campground offers 68 campsites on a first-come, first-served basis, including 53 drive-in sites and 15 walk-in sites closer to the river. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The campground provides vault toilets, with some newer accessible units available. Drinking water is accessible via hand pumps from four wells scattered throughout the campground. Sites are nestled among mixed conifer forest, with some positioned near the river and others in more open, scattered timber areas. An RV dump station is located on the entrance road to nearby Clark Fork Campground, available to Sand Flat campers for a $6 fee. The campground serves as a base for fishing along the Clark Fork, hiking to nearby Iceberg Meadow Trailhead, and exploring the surrounding Stanislaus National Forest backcountry. The area is popular with anglers targeting rainbow and brown trout in the river.

Directions

From Highway 108, turn onto Clark Fork Road. Continue about 6 miles to Sand Flat Campground, located near Clark Fork Campground and Iceberg Meadow Trailhead. The campground is approximately 25 miles east of the Summit Ranger Station.
