About

Rye Patch State Recreation Area Group Campground sits along the Humboldt River below Rye Patch Dam in Pershing County, Nevada. The recreation area features a 22-mile long reservoir with 72 miles of shoreline and up to 11,000 acres of water surface when full, making it a prime destination for water-based recreation in the high desert. The group camping facilities include the East River Group Use Area, which accommodates up to 30 people and is designated for tent camping only. The West Side group use and picnic area can handle larger groups of up to 100 people with tables, grills, water, and restrooms. Both the River Campground and Westside Campground feature modern restrooms with flush toilets and hot showers. A sanitary dump station with potable water is located on the dam's west side. Recreational opportunities abound with fishing for walleye, white bass, and channel catfish, as well as boating, swimming, and hiking. The river campground also offers a volleyball court, horseshoe pit, and swimming area. The park is accessible year-round via Interstate 80, Exit 129, about 22 miles east of Lovelock.

Directions

From Interstate 80, take Exit 129 (Rye Patch Reservoir Road). Follow signs to the main park entrance, dam, and campgrounds. The park is located 22 miles east of Lovelock, Nevada and 46 miles west of Winnemucca.
