About

Horseshoe Lake Recreation Area Campground is a hidden gem in the Huron National Forest, offering a peaceful retreat on a small 16-acre lake. This lightly-used campground features nine campsites perfect for visitors seeking solitude away from busier recreation areas. The lake provides excellent fishing opportunities, and both motorized and non-motorized boating are permitted. A scenic one-mile trail loops around the north end of the lake, ideal for wildlife viewing and enjoying lakeside vistas. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted. Sites are basic but include tables and fire pits typical of national forest campgrounds. Vault toilets are available, though visitors should note there is no potable water on-site and must bring their own drinking water. The facility is accessible via Forest Road 4124, about 25 miles west of Harrisville. Cash or check payment is required for the modest $10 per night camping fee. Interagency Senior and Access Pass holders receive a 50% discount. The campground's remote location and minimal amenities make it ideal for self-sufficient campers who value quiet and natural surroundings over modern conveniences.
