Located in Safford, Arizona at the base of Mount Graham, Roper Lake State Park features eight lakeside cabins that provide comfortable lodging near a 32-acre recreational lake. The cabins are variably furnished with bunk beds with mattresses and/or full-size beds with mattresses, and each is outfitted with electricity and air conditioning/heating. Outdoor amenities include picnic tables and charcoal grills at each cabin, with shared restroom and shower facilities within walking distance. The park offers excellent fishing for largemouth bass, bluegill, catfish, and seasonal rainbow trout, along with a boat ramp, swimming beach, and day-use island. Birdwatchers will appreciate the large variety of bird species in this area, and the proximity to Mount Graham provides access to one of Arizona's most scenic Sky Island mountain ranges. The park features hiking trails and is surrounded by beautiful southern Arizona landscape. Five of the eight cabins (Mustang, Roadrunner, Coyote, Hummingbird, and Bass) are pet-friendly with a two-pet maximum and $10 pet fee. Cabins accommodate up to six people with a maximum of four adults. Open flame devices like candles and stove burners are not permitted inside the cabins. The park opened to the public in 1975 on land formerly used as a ranch.

Directions

Roper Lake State Park is located 6 miles south of Safford, Arizona, off U.S. Route 191. From Safford, head south on US-191 for approximately 6 miles, then turn left onto Roper Lake Road to reach the park entrance.
