About
Upper Twilight Group Site sits at 7,400 feet in a shady ponderosa pine and conifer forest in the Pinaleño Mountains of southeastern Arizona. The site accommodates a single group of up to 50 guests and includes vault toilets, picnic tables, a group campfire ring with grill, bear-proof food lockers, and bear-proof trash cans. Parking is available for up to six vehicles. Groups over 30 must provide one portable toilet per 15 people. The campground lies along the Swift Trail Scenic Drive (SR 366), which climbs from the Sonoran Desert floor at 2,900 feet to alpine meadows above 9,000 feet. This dramatic elevation range creates exceptionally diverse habitat, making the area popular for birding and wildlife watching. Nearby attractions include Riggs Lake (stocked with trout), the Columbine Visitors Center, Mount Graham Wilderness Study Area, and numerous hiking and mountain biking trails. No potable water is available; campers must bring their own supply. The last mile to the campground is on a dirt road suitable for passenger vehicles, but trailers over 22 feet are not recommended due to narrow switchbacks on SR 366. Total vehicle length must be under 40 feet. This is bear country; all food must be stored in bear-proof containers or locked vehicles.
