About
Gila Campground provides a rustic lakeside camping experience at Roper Lake State Park, situated at the base of Mount Graham in southeast Arizona's Graham County. The campground features five non-electric tent sites, eight shoreline camping cabins with lake views, and a 14-site group camping area equipped with a large ramada, BBQ grills, and a communal fire ring. Each non-electric site comes with a fire ring and picnic table, with water spigots available at most sites. Roper Lake State Park encompasses a 30-acre lake stocked with largemouth bass, channel catfish, bluegill, and rainbow trout seasonally. The park offers swimming at a designated beach, kayaking, bird watching, and hiking trails. A natural hot spring-fed stone tub provides a unique soaking experience. Modern restroom and shower facilities with hot water are accessible to all registered campers at no additional charge. The park includes a visitor center with a camp store selling fishing equipment, bait, books, and supplies. An RV dump station near the park entrance is available exclusively to registered campers. A fully fenced dog park allows pets to exercise off-leash, though pets must remain leashed elsewhere and are prohibited at the swimming beach.
