About
Cottonwood Campground is the largest of three campgrounds at Roper Lake State Park, situated 6 miles south of Safford at the base of Mt. Graham in southeast Arizona. The campground features 25 lakeside sites, each equipped with water and electric hookups supporting 20, 30, and 50 amp service. All sites are back-in only and can accommodate vehicles up to 45 feet in length. Every campsite includes fire rings, picnic tables, and a small shade ramada providing relief from the sun. The campground offers modern bathroom facilities with hot showers for camper convenience. A dump station is available near the park entrance for registered campers. The park entrance gate closes nightly at 9 p.m., and a second vehicle fee applies per night for additional vehicles beyond the primary camping vehicle. Roper Lake State Park offers excellent opportunities for fishing, bird watching, water activities, and hiking. The park is open year-round with gate hours from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Check-in time is 2 p.m. and check-out is 12 noon.
