About

Rock Creek South Trailhead is a primitive camping area situated in Gallatin County, Montana, within the Custer Gallatin National Forest and the Hyalite-Porcupine-Buffalo Horn Wilderness Study Area. This trailhead camping area provides basic facilities for campers and serves as an access point for wilderness recreation. The site offers vault toilet facilities and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no camping fees. As a trailhead location, it provides convenient access for hikers and backpackers heading into the wilderness study area. The primitive nature of this camping area means campers should come prepared with all necessary supplies and be ready for backcountry conditions. Due to its location in the Montana mountains, the area experiences significant seasonal weather variations. Winter access is typically restricted by snow, while summer and early fall offer the most reliable access for camping and recreation.
