Moose Creek Flat Campground

Moose Creek Flat Campground is located in scenic Gallatin Canyon on the Bozeman Ranger District of the Custer Gallatin National Forest, 32 miles south of Bozeman via Highway 191. The campground sits at 5,700 feet elevation in an open meadow next to the Gallatin River near Moose Creek, surrounded by pine and fir-covered mountainsides. The campground offers 12 individual sites, each with a picnic table and campfire ring. Amenities include vault toilets, drinking water from a hand pump, and trash collection. Roads within the campground are paved with gravel parking spurs averaging 20 by 60 feet. Four sites are ADA-accessible, and an accessible fishing dock at the river's edge provides excellent access to the Gallatin River. Wildlife is abundant in the canyon, with frequent sightings of bald eagles, bighorn sheep, moose, elk, mountain goats, and deer. Black and grizzly bears also inhabit the area, so all food must be stored in approved containers. Nearby trails include Swan Creek Trail at Swan Creek Campground and Golden Trout Lakes Trail, about 15 minutes south via Portal Creek Road.

From Bozeman, take Highway 191 south for 32 miles. From West Yellowstone, take Highway 191 north 57 miles. The campground is on the west side of the highway.
