About
Hexacuba Shelter is a distinctive hexagonal backcountry shelter accommodating up to eight hikers on the Appalachian Trail in New Hampshire's White Mountain National Forest. Built and maintained by the Dartmouth Outing Club, this free shelter provides basic overnight accommodation for through-hikers and section hikers traveling the AT. The shelter is accessed via a 0.2-mile spur path off Kodiak Trail (Appalachian Trail), located 1.6 miles south of the south peak of Mt. Cube near Orford, NH. A privy is available on-site. The only water source is a small brook at the spur path junction, which may be unreliable during dry periods. All water must be treated before use. As with all backcountry camping in White Mountain National Forest, hikers should practice Leave No Trace principles and pack out all trash. Group size is limited to 10 people or fewer. Dogs must be leashed in developed areas.
Directions
From the Appalachian Trail (Kodiak Trail), the shelter is accessed via a 0.2-mile spur path located 1.6 miles south of the south peak of Mt. Cube.
