About

Dawn Redwood Group Camp offers a unique group camping experience within Richardson Grove State Park's spectacular old-growth coastal redwood forest. The campground features one group site that can accommodate between 9 and 40 people with parking for up to 10 vehicles. Located along the South Fork Eel River in Humboldt County, the park protects some of California's most magnificent ancient redwood stands, with trees over 1,000 years old soaring to heights exceeding 300 feet. The group campground provides access to the park's extensive trail system, including the Grove Nature Trail which winds through old-growth forest. Summer visitors can enjoy swimming in the Eel River when water levels are safe, while winter brings excellent fishing opportunities. The park offers interpretive programs, Junior Ranger activities, and guided nature walks during the summer season. Highway 101 runs directly through the park, making it easily accessible yet immersed in the ancient forest atmosphere.
