About

Dawn Redwood Group Camp offers an intimate group camping experience beneath some of California's most magnificent coast redwoods at Richardson Grove State Park. The park protects ancient redwoods exceeding 300 feet tall and over 1,000 years old, creating a cathedral-like forest atmosphere. The South Fork Eel River, designated a national Wild and Scenic River, runs through the park and provides swimming opportunities during summer months. The group site accommodates 9-40 campers and operates seasonally, typically opening a week before Memorial Day and closing after Labor Day weekend. Reservations are available through ReserveCalifornia up to six months in advance. The campground provides access to developed facilities including flush restrooms, coin-operated hot showers, and potable water. Richardson Grove is located 7 miles south of Garberville on Highway 101. Dogs are permitted in the campground but must remain leashed during the day and confined to vehicles or tents at night; pets are not allowed on park trails. The narrow winding access on Highway 101 limits vehicle sizes, with maximum lengths of 24 feet for trailers and 30 feet for motorhomes.
