Open

Open year-round, first-come, first-served. No potable water available; campers must bring their own or treat creek water. Group reservations for 20-60 people require 30 days advance notice and are not available on Memorial Day, Fourth of July, or Labor Day weekends.

About

Nadelos Campground sits in the King Range National Conservation Area, a rugged coastal wilderness managed by the BLM along California's Lost Coast. The campground has 8 tent-only sites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets are provided, and the facility is wheelchair accessible. There is no potable water on-site; a nearby creek can be used if the water is properly treated. The campground serves as a trailhead for the Chemise Mountain Trail, making it a good base for exploring the surrounding backcountry. Sites are available first-come, first-served for $15 per night. Groups of 20-60 people can reserve the entire campground for $120-130 per night by contacting the King Range Visitor Center at least 30 days in advance. Group reservations are not available on Memorial Day, Fourth of July, or Labor Day weekends. Access is via Briceland/Shelter Cove Road from Redway, then south on Chemise Mountain Road. The remote location and lack of amenities mean campers should come prepared with water, food, and supplies.
