Paso Picacho Campground
Open — The campground is open year-round. From December 1 through March 31, sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations through ReserveCalifornia are available April 1 through November 30. Park gates are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

About
Paso Picacho Campground is situated at 5,000 feet elevation in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, offering 85 family campsites within an oak woodland forest setting. The campground serves as the trailhead for some of the park's most popular hikes, including the 2-mile trek to Stonewall Peak at 5,700 feet and the 3.5-mile climb to Cuyamaca Peak at 6,512 feet, both providing breathtaking views of the Pacific coastline, Colorado Desert, Mexico, and Lake Cuyamaca below. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The campground provides modern restroom facilities with flush toilets and pay showers, with water faucets located every few sites. An RV dump station is available on-site. Firewood and ice can be purchased at the campground. The park encompasses over 24,000 acres with more than 100 miles of trails accommodating hikers, bikers, and equestrians. Lake Cuyamaca, located two miles north, offers boating and fishing opportunities.
Directions
East of San Diego on Highway 79, five miles north of I-8. From I-8 East, take exit 40 and follow CA-79 north for approximately 12 miles.
