This will pose a moderate risk of heat-related illness. * WHERE...Eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca, Foothills and Valleys of the North Cascades, Lake Crescent Area Including US 101, Lowlands of Western Skagit and Northwestern Snohomish Counties, Lowlands of Western Whatcom County, Northern Hood Canal, and Port Townsend Area. * WHEN...Until 11 PM PDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Heat will significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses for those who are sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling or adequate hydration. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Areas closest to the water will experience cooler daytime high temperatures.

An Air Quality Alert has been issued for Skagit and Whatcom Counties, effective immediately through Wednesday July 22nd at 9am due to expected wildfire smoke from Canadian wildfires. Particulate matter (PM2.5) levels may reach Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. When air quality is Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups, sensitive groups should take steps to reduce exposure. Limit time outside, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, and follow tips for cleaner indoor air. Everyone should watch for symptoms as a sign to reduce exposure. About

Rasar State Park sits along the scenic Skagit River in the foothills of the North Cascades, about 50 miles east of Bellingham. The 180-acre park features a mix of old-growth and second-growth forest with over 4,000 feet of river frontage. The campground includes standard tent/RV sites, partial-hookup sites with water and electric, primitive hiker/biker sites, group camps, and heated cabins with private bathrooms. The park offers 4.7 miles of trails including a one-mile ADA-accessible loop. The Skagit River is popular for fishing (steelhead, salmon, trout) and wildlife viewing, with bald eagles commonly seen in winter. Interpretive programs and Junior Ranger activities run weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Facilities include modern restrooms with showers, potable water, a trailer dump station, firewood for sale, and Wi-Fi. A kitchen shelter with electricity and water is available for group use. Reservations are recommended; unreserved sites become available for same-day one-night stays starting at 2:30 p.m.

Rasar State Park is located at 38730 Cape Horn Road, Concrete, WA 98237. From I-5, take exit 230 for WA-20 E toward Burlington/Anacortes. Continue on WA-20 E for approximately 23 miles. Turn right onto Cape Horn Road; the park entrance will be on your right.
