* WHAT...For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 8 to 11 feet in the surf zone. For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. * WHERE...Southwest Suffolk County. * WHEN...For the High Rip Current Risk, through Saturday evening. For the High Surf Advisory, until 8 PM EDT Saturday. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 9 AM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience minor flooding. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Life-threatening rip currents are likely for all people entering the surf zone. Anyone visiting the beaches should stay out of the surf. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Additional minor to even moderate coastal flooding possible for Friday PM and Saturday AM high tide cycles. Beach flooding and erosion likely Friday into Saturday.

About
Heckscher State Park campground offers 67 sites on Long Island's scenic Great South Bay shoreline in Suffolk County. The developed campground accommodates both tent campers and RVs with equipment lengths ranging from 20 to 50 feet depending on the site. While no electric, water, or sewer hookups are available, the campground provides restrooms, showers, a dump station, and picnic tables at each site. The park is known for its water recreation opportunities including bay swimming at West Beach, boat launches, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, and paddleboarding. Four miles of paved multi-use trails wind through the park for hiking and biking. The campground also features grills, a playground, and an information center. Reservations are made through ReserveAmerica up to 9 months in advance. Pets are not permitted at campsites or cottages. Maximum stay is 14 consecutive nights. In addition to the campsites, the park offers 15 waterfront cottages available from late April through mid-October.
