Wildwood State Park
Closed for the season. Opens mid-April 2026 with staggered loop openings. Reservations available up to 9 months in advance through ReserveAmerica.
Special Weather Statement issued May 2 at 1:45PM EDT by NWS Upton NY
The combination of drying fine fuels, northwest wind gusts between 25 and 30 mph, and relative humidity values between 25 and 35 percent will contribute to an elevated risk of fire spread Sunday afternoon for the Lower Hudson Valley, New York City and Long Island. This forecast considers meteorological, fuel, and land conditions and has been developed in coordination with state fire and land management officials. As a reminder, the annual statewide burn ban remains in effect until May 14. No burn permits are issued. Use extra caution if handling any potential ignition sources such as machinery or matches and ensure to properly extinguish or dispose of cigarette butts. Please refer to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation website for more information on burn restrictions.
About
Wildwood State Park comprises 600 acres of undeveloped hardwood forest terminating on a high bluff overlooking Long Island Sound. The campground features 314 campsites, including 242 tent sites and sites with full hookups for trailers and RVs. The park also offers 10 cottages available for seasonal rental. Campers enjoy access to a two-mile beach on Long Island Sound, perfect for swimming and fishing during warmer months. The park provides numerous amenities including showers, a dump station, camp store with firewood sales, picnic areas, playgrounds, basketball courts, and ball fields. Over 12 miles of marked trails wind through the forest for hiking and cross-country skiing. During summer, the campground hosts recreation programs, weekly movies, and line dancing events. Each campsite includes a picnic table, and campers must provide their own metal fire containers for campfires.
