Taughannock Falls State Park

Taughannock Falls State Park campground sits on a bluff overlooking Cayuga Lake in the town of Ulysses, Tompkins County. The 68 wooded campsites in Camping Area A accommodate both tents and RVs, each equipped with a fire pit, picnic table, and gravel pad. Electric hookups are available at select sites, and water stations are distributed throughout the camping area. The park also offers 16 cabins with their own fire pits and picnic tables. The campground provides modern comfort stations with flush toilets and showers, along with an RV dump station. Additional facilities include a marina with transient slips, boat launch, boat rentals, swimming beach with seasonal lifeguards, playground, and picnic pavilions. Food concessions operate seasonally. The park's centerpiece is Taughannock Falls, a 215-foot waterfall that exceeds Niagara Falls in height. Hikers can access the falls via the 0.75-mile Gorge Trail or view them from the South Rim and North Rim Trails. Winter activities include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, and ice skating. Bow and crossbow hunting for deer is permitted seasonally.

Directions

The park has two entrances off NY Route 89 on the west shore of Cayuga Lake, approximately 8 miles north of Ithaca. The lower entrance at 1740 Taughannock Blvd provides access to the marina, swimming beach, and campground check-in. The upper entrance leads to the campground, overlook, visitor center, and trail system.
