About
General Butler State Resort Park campground sits on wooded hills overlooking a small lake in Carroll County, Kentucky, just off I-71 about 44 miles northeast of Louisville. The campground has 104 sites, all with electric and water hookups and paved, level pads. Site configurations include both back-in and pull-through options, with some pull-through sites accommodating rigs up to 60 feet. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. Two central bathhouses provide flush restrooms, hot showers, and laundry facilities. A dump station is available on-site. The park is named for General William Orlando Butler, a War of 1812 and Mexican-American War veteran whose family homestead is preserved within the park. Recreation includes fishing and boating on the 30-acre lake, hiking trails, paddle boat rentals, mini golf, tennis courts, volleyball, and a playground. The park also has a lodge with a restaurant. Pets are allowed on leash. Note that from the first weekend in November through the last weekend in March, water may need to be hauled from a central location due to freeze protection measures.
