About

Plaskett Creek Campground sits at 200 feet elevation on the east side of Highway 1 in the Los Padres National Forest, offering a scenic coastal camping experience in the Big Sur region. The 41-site campground features a park-like setting under a scattered canopy of mature Monterey pine and cypress trees, with all sites on grass. The Pacific Ocean is audible from many campsites, and Sand Dollar Beach, the largest sandy beach in the Big Sur area, is within walking distance. The campground provides excellent access to coastal activities including surfing, fishing, swimming, and beach exploration. Trails along the beach lead to scenic bluffs overlooking coves and the Pacific coastline. Additional hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails are within a short drive, offering views of waterfalls, redwood groves, and mountain meadows. Wildlife in the area includes fox, bobcat, deer, and raccoon, with occasional mountain lion and bear sightings in the surrounding forest. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring, and pedestal grill. The campground is well-maintained with clean vault toilets and offers a peaceful retreat for families and outdoor enthusiasts exploring the central California coast.
