About
Nacimiento Campground offers a remote camping experience in the Los Padres National Forest, positioned among shady oak groves at 1,800 feet elevation. The eight campsites provide a quiet retreat with a small creek nearby, making it an appealing basecamp for hikers and hunters alike. The campground serves as the trailhead for both the McPhearson Peak Trail and the Aliso Park Trail, which winds 4.76 miles into the San Rafael Wilderness in Santa Barbara County. This is a primitive campground with no potable water or restrooms, so campers must pack in their own water supply and be prepared for backcountry-style camping. Each site has a picnic table and designated fire ring. The campground is especially popular during fall hunting season due to its remote location and wildlife access. Access requires driving Nacimiento-Fergusson Road, and RVs longer than 25 feet are not recommended due to road conditions. Reservations are available through CampOne, and the standard nightly fee is $30 per site with an additional $10 for extra vehicles.
