About
Limekiln State Park Campground sits in one of Big Sur's most scenic locations, where majestic coastal redwoods meet the dramatic Pacific coastline. The 716-acre park offers camping in two distinct areas: redwood sites along Limekiln Creek provide a forested retreat among towering trees, while beach loop sites offer stunning ocean views and the sound of crashing waves. The campground serves as a base for exploring the park's attractions, including a small rocky beach accessible via short trails, the historic Rockland Lime and Lumber Company kilns from the 1880s, and seasonal Limekiln Falls. Trails wind through redwood groves and along the creek to reach these destinations. The park is located on Highway 1 at mile marker 20.95, two miles south of Lucia, making it accessible to those traveling the legendary Big Sur coast. Despite its relatively small size with limited sites, the campground's combination of redwood forest ambiance and coastal access makes it a highly sought-after destination along this iconic stretch of California coastline.
