About

Oceano Campground is one of two campgrounds at Pismo State Beach, situated near the freshwater Oceano Lagoon and a short walk from the Pacific Ocean. The campground offers a mix of tent sites and RV sites with full hookups, accommodating RVs up to 36 feet and trailers up to 31 feet. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. The campground features pay-operated hot showers, restrooms, and a visitor center at the entrance that offers educational programs and interpretive exhibits about local wildlife and cultural history. Campers can explore the nearby Oceano Lagoon, which features a wheelchair-accessible fishing overhang, or walk to the beach for swimming, surf fishing, and wildlife viewing. The park offers free sand wheelchairs and hosts Junior Ranger Programs and Campfire Programs during summer months. The Pismo State Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove, home to one of the largest overwintering colonies in the U.S., is accessible from the area during November through February. Dogs are allowed on leash. Firewood is available for purchase from camp hosts.
