About
Pine Valley Horse Camp serves as a basecamp for equestrians exploring the Emigrant Wilderness in the Stanislaus National Forest. Located approximately 10 miles from Highway 108 via Crabtree Road, the camp sits in a forested setting near the Crabtree trailhead. From here, riders can access an extensive trail network leading to popular destinations including Bell Meadow and the vast Emigrant Wilderness backcountry. This is a primitive, undeveloped horse camp designed specifically for stock users. The remote location and vault toilet facilities reflect its backcountry character. Visitors should be prepared for primitive conditions and practice Leave No Trace principles, packing out all waste and trash. The camp's location near Aspen Meadow Pack Station makes it convenient for those trailing in horses or utilizing pack station services for wilderness trips into the high country of the central Sierra Nevada.
Directions
From Highway 108 east of Cold Springs, take Crabtree Road (Forest Road 4N26) approximately 10 miles. The camp is located beyond Aspen Meadow Pack Station.
