Pine Grove Campground

Pine Grove Campground is located in the West Rosebud drainage of the Custer Gallatin National Forest, situated in the trees along the banks of West Rosebud Creek. The campground offers 46 campsites managed on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations accepted. At approximately 6,000 feet elevation, the area provides a scenic mountain setting with access to excellent recreational opportunities. Nearby attractions include Emerald Lake Campground, West Rosebud Trail #19, Emerald Lake Fishing Access, and West Rosebud Lake Fishing Access, all located within the same drainage. The campground is known for heavy usage and typically fills up on weekends and holidays during the summer season. Some sites are equipped with bear-resistant food storage lockers, and a bear-resistant dumpster is provided for trash disposal. The campground can accommodate trailers up to 30 feet and offers accessible toilet facilities. Drinking water is available from a hand pump. A 16-day maximum stay limit applies to all Beartooth Ranger District campgrounds. Campers should obtain firewood locally and are prohibited from bringing outside firewood to prevent the spread of tree-killing insects.

Directions

From the Beartooth Ranger District Office, drive north on US Hwy 212 for 2.1 miles and turn left onto MT-78. Drive 30 miles and turn left onto MT-419 towards Fishtail. Drive 4.4 miles through Fishtail and turn left onto West Rosebud Rd. Drive 6.5 miles and turn left to continue on West Rosebud Rd. Drive 9.1 miles to the campground on the left. There are two entrances.
