East Rosebud Campground

East Rosebud Campground sits nestled in the trees near East Rosebud Lake within the Custer Gallatin National Forest. The East Rosebud drainage is considered one of the most scenic areas in the Beartooth Range, offering rugged alpine terrain and access to pristine wilderness. The campground serves as a basecamp for hikers heading into the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness via three nearby trails: East Rosebud Trail (#15), Spread Creek Trail (#13) which departs from the back of the campground, and Phantom Creek Trail (#17). The 14 sites are managed first-come, first-served with no reservation system. Sites vary in size with a maximum trailer length of 20 feet. Amenities during peak season include potable water from a hand pump, vault toilets, and a centrally-located bear-resistant trash container. Some sites have bear-resistant food storage lockers. There is no campground host or firewood for sale. Note that much of the area directly around East Rosebud Lake is private property, limiting public fishing and boat access to the lake. Directions

From Red Lodge, drive 20 miles west on MT Highway 78. Turn south onto Roscoe Road and drive 2.3 miles, cross the bridge, then turn right onto East Rosebud Road. Continue 10.5 miles south to the campground on the left.
