Continued hot and sunny weather conditions may allow ozone concentrations to reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category on Tuesday and Wednesday. The transport of wildfire smoke may increase particle pollution levels, reaching the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category, or worse, at times. Parrett is a historic Forest Service lookout or cabin rental facility located in Pike National Forest within Jefferson County, Colorado. Situated in the Front Range at an elevation of approximately 9,000 feet, this remote structure offers visitors an authentic backcountry experience with the comfort of a roof overhead. Like other Forest Service cabin rentals in the Pike-San Isabel complex, Parrett represents the historic infrastructure once used by forest guards and fire lookouts who lived and worked in remote areas of the national forest. The facility provides a unique alternative to tent camping for those seeking solitude and mountain views. Visitors should be prepared for primitive conditions and plan to bring their own supplies, as these rentals typically require self-sufficiency.
Directions
Parrett Lookout Cabin is located within the Pike National Forest, near the rustic town of Pine, Colorado. From Denver, head southwest on Highway 285 towards Pine, then look for signs directing you towards the Pike National Forest and the specific trails leading to Parrett.
