About
Green Mountain Campground sits at an elevation of 7,500 feet in the Pike National Forest, southwest of Denver in the Buffalo Creek Recreation Area. This tent-only campground offers a wonderful opportunity for individuals and families seeking a rustic outdoor experience with the convenience of being close to town yet far enough to feel like a true getaway. South Fork Buffalo Creek flows through the campground, providing a peaceful backdrop for your camping experience.
The campground is located near numerous nonmotorized, multi-use trails that offer excellent opportunities for hiking and exploring the surrounding Pike National Forest. The area is popular among outdoor enthusiasts and is frequently listed in recreation guides and books, which means limited availability is common, especially during peak season. All sites are first-come, first-served and must be occupied to be considered non-vacant.
Green Mountain Campground operates with full services from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, weather permitting. An extended season from early May to late September offers camping opportunities, though services such as water, trash, or a host may not be available during the shoulder seasons. The campground host is located down the road at Buffalo Campground. Each site accommodates up to eight people with two tents and two vehicles, and all sites include picnic tables and fire rings.
