About

Osprey Campground sits on the lower western shore of Priest Lake near Outlet Bay in the Idaho Panhandle National Forests. The 25,000-acre lake is fed by springs trickling down from the rugged Selkirk Mountains and reaches depths of 300 feet. The campground's 15 standard nonelectric sites feature paved roads and parking spurs, with flush toilets, potable water from a hand pump, fire rings, and picnic tables naturally shaded by towering trees. Boating, canoeing, kayaking, and wakeboarding are summertime favorites at Priest Lake. Boaters often head north on the lake to traverse the narrow thoroughfare reaching Upper Priest Lake Scenic Area. Anglers frequently catch Dolly Varden and cutthroat trout as well as kokanee salmon. Wildlife in the area includes moose, grizzly and black bears, wolves, mountain lions, deer, and the osprey for which the campground is named. Nearby, the Chipmunk Rapids Trail traverses along Kaniksu Marsh, Priest River, and Chipmunk Rapids. A 14-day stay limit is strictly enforced per 30-consecutive-day period.
