Order 015 - Road Use Regulations - Forest Development
Code of Federal Regulations, the following acts are prohibited on all Forest Development Roads under the jurisdiction of the Black Hills National Forest:

Located 4 miles south of Hill City along Highway 16/385, Oreville Campground is a scenic Forest Service campground in Black Hills National Forest offering 16 non-electric campsites. The sites are nestled on a hillside among aspen groves, towering ponderosa pines, and grassy meadows, with many campsites offering generous space and a sense of privacy. The campground accommodates tents, trailers, and RVs and provides basic amenities including vault toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, and campfire rings with grills. The campground's central location makes it an ideal base for exploring the Black Hills. Nearby attractions include Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Crazy Horse Monument, Custer State Park, Wind Cave National Park, and Jewel Cave National Monument. Outdoor enthusiasts can access the George S. Mickelson Trail, a 100-mile rail-to-trail featuring packed gravel surface, 4 tunnels, and over 100 converted railroad bridges. The area offers exceptional opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, fishing, and OHV riding. Ambitious hikers can tackle the trail to Black Elk Peak, the highest natural point in the United States east of the Rocky Mountains. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov, though some sites may be available first-come, first-served. Generators are permitted from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Pets are allowed with a $2 per pet per night fee. The campground operates seasonally from mid-May through early September and closes during the off-season due to snow.

From Hill City, SD, at the intersection of East Main Street (US Route 16) and Deerfield Road (County Route 308), take US Route 16 south 5.2 miles to the campground sign. Turn left at the sign into the campground.
