About

Bismarck Lake Campground occupies a scenic setting on the southeast shore of Bismarck Lake within Black Hills National Forest. The campground is scattered among aspen groves and Ponderosa pines at approximately 5,000 feet elevation, with widely spaced sites that provide privacy and open views of the lake. Access to the campground requires passing through Custer State Park near the West Highway 16A entrance. A beautiful boardwalk extends along the water's edge with fishing piers, making it easy to take advantage of fishing opportunities. The surrounding area supports hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and OHV riding on moderate terrain. The campground offers vault toilets, picnic tables at each site, and campfire rings. Potable water is available during the main season but is turned off from October 1 through May 15. No hookups are available. During the off-season, a reduced section of 6 sites on the right side of the campground remains open on a first-come, first-served basis.
