About

Oak Creek Campground sits at approximately 7,600 feet elevation in the San Carlos Ranger District of Pike-San Isabel National Forests, about 15 miles southwest of Canon City along Oak Creek Grade Road. This primitive, free campground offers 15 unnumbered sites suitable for tents and very small trailers in a quiet wooded mountain setting. Each site includes a parking spur, picnic table, and fire ring with grill. The campground has three older vault toilets that are not ADA-accessible. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own supply. There are no trash receptacles, requiring full pack-out of all waste. The campground provides direct trailhead access to the 2.14-mile Lion Canyon multiuse trail. Additional multiuse trails including East Bear Gulch, Stutz, and Tanner trailheads are within 6 miles. Popular activities include hiking, fishing, bicycling, motorcycling, and ATV riding.
