About

Mingus Ranch offers a unique opportunity to experience an authentic early 20th century Colorado homestead. Built in 1908 and operated by the same family for six decades before becoming Forest Service property, the cabin and neighboring barn have been meticulously renovated to match their original appearance in collaboration with the Frontier Pathways Scenic and Historic Byway and the Colorado State Historical Society. Period furniture and antiques fill the interior. The two-story cabin accommodates up to six guests with a queen bed, two single beds, and a bunk bed. Amenities include electric heat, an electric stove, minimal electric lighting, kitchen sink (no running water), table, chairs, and cooking utensils. Outside you'll find an accessible vault toilet, picnic table, campfire ring, and horse corral. Guests must bring their own drinking water, bedding, food, garbage bags, and additional light sources. The cabin sits in a sprawling meadow near the base of Round Top Mountain, surrounded by spruce and mixed conifers with views of Greenhorn Mountain to the south. Hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, OHV riding, hunting, and wildlife viewing are popular activities in the area. Westcliffe is 26 miles northwest for supplies.
