The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a Red Flag Warning for gusty winds and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 10 AM to 10 PM MDT Wednesday. A Fire Weather Watch has also been issued. This Fire Weather Watch for gusty winds and low relative humidity is in effect from Thursday morning through Thursday evening. The Fire Weather Watch for Wednesday is no longer in effect. * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 220, 221, 222, 223, 224, 225, 226, 227, 228, 229 and 230. * WINDS...Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Locally higher gusts will be possible this afternoon near high based showers or thunderstorms. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 10 percent on Tuesday and 4 percent Wednesday and Thursday. * IMPACTS...Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution and avoid any outdoor burning. Fire behavior may become dangerous and erratic if impacted by gusty thunderstorm outflows.

About

Spruce Group Campground sits at 8,600 feet elevation within the Lake Isabel Recreation Area of the San Isabel National Forest, about 43 miles southwest of Pueblo. This single group site can host up to 50 guests for day use and 40 for overnight camping, making it well-suited for family reunions, scout troops, or organized outings. The site includes a covered picnic shelter seating 25-30 people, two 3-foot-wide grills, a horseshoe pit, and a volleyball court. Individual campfire rings are provided, and potable water is available from a hand pump. An ADA-accessible double vault toilet serves the site. There is a paved parking area, though space is limited. Recreation options abound: Lake Isabel offers non-motorized boating and fishing for brown and brook trout. The Snow Slide, St. Charles, and Cisneros trails provide opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and motorized use. Bear-resistant food storage is required.

Directions

From Pueblo, travel 18 miles south on I-25 to exit 74. Head west on State Highway 165. The campground is located within the Lake Isabel Recreation Area on a paved access road, approximately 43 miles southwest of Pueblo.
