About

North Beach Campground at Emma Wood State Beach offers a unique primitive camping experience along the Ventura coastline. The campground stretches along the historic Roosevelt Highway at the downcoast end of the Rincon Parkway, providing 90 oceanfront campsites exclusively for fully self-contained RVs and trailers. Tents are not permitted at this location. The camping experience is truly primitive, with no water, restrooms, electricity, fire rings, dump stations, or phones available on-site. Campsites consist of dirt parking spaces along the ocean side of the access road off Highway 101, featuring uneven surfaces that may contain a mixture of asphalt, dirt, cobble, and ocean debris. Maximum vehicle length is 40 feet due to small turnaround areas. High tides may close the campground at any time, and campers should be aware that railroad tracks and Highway 101 run adjacent to the campground, creating potential noise. The beach is popular for swimming, surfing, and fishing, with catches including perch, bass, cabezon, and corbina. The offshore Channel Islands are visible from the beach, and dolphins are occasionally spotted just offshore. Moderate ocean temperatures make this an attractive destination year-round for water activities. Dogs are permitted in the campground on leash but are prohibited on the beach. The campground is located along the Omer Rains Coastal Bike Trail, which connects to San Buenaventura State Beach.
