About
Holiday Group Campground provides an escape into the oak-covered canyons of Los Padres National Forest. Situated at 2,120 feet in Live Oak Canyon, the campground offers heavy shade and the sound of Matilija Creek flowing nearby. One large group site accommodates up to 50 people with parking for 10 vehicles across eight pull-in driveways, suitable for tents, trailers, and RVs. The Wheeler Gorge Nature Trail begins just a mile south, offering a short loop through thick riparian vegetation with hillside views. For more adventurous visitors, the 10-mile Ortega Trail provides challenging off-road riding to the ridgetop. A small swimming hole is accessible nearby, and fishing in the creek may yield trout, though the stream is not stocked. Ojai is about 15 miles south, while Ventura and the Pacific Ocean are roughly 20 miles beyond. Campers must bring their own drinking water as potable water is not available at the campground. Vault toilets, picnic tables, and barbecues are provided.
Directions
From Ventura, travel north on Highway 33 for about 14 miles to Ojai. Turn left to continue on Highway 33 and travel north about 9 miles to the campground on the left. Turn onto Highway 150 north for about 16 miles, then turn left onto Highway 33 and continue north approximately 9 miles.
