About
New Canyon Campground is a small, primitive campground tucked into the Manzano Mountains of Cibola National Forest, west of the village of Manzano in central New Mexico. The campground offers 10 tent-only sites in a peaceful mountain setting surrounded by mixed conifer forest. Facilities are basic: vault toilets and picnic tables are available, but there is no potable water on site. Campers must bring their own water supply. Trash services may be reduced or unavailable, so visitors should be prepared to pack out all refuse. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. The primary draw is access to the Manzano Wilderness. The New Canyon Trail (Trail 101) begins directly across from the campground and leads into a network of backcountry trails. Wildlife sightings including deer are common in the canyon.
