About

Tajique Campground is a rustic, no-fee campground tucked into the piñon-juniper woodlands of the Manzano Mountains at 6,800 feet elevation. The small 6-site campground sits near Tajique Creek, just 5 miles west of the village of Tajique. Due to the narrow access road and tight site layout, trailers are not permitted. Facilities are minimal: vault toilets and picnic tables are provided, but there is no potable water and trash service may be unavailable, so campers should come prepared to pack out all garbage and bring their own water supply. The campground operates year-round on a first-come, first-served basis. The surrounding area provides access to the Manzano Mountain Wilderness and is known for its fall foliage, particularly the large stands of Bigtooth Maples in nearby Tajique Canyon. The nearby Fourth of July Campground and associated trails offer additional hiking options.
