About

Bosque Campground sits high in the Manzano Mountains within Cibola National Forest, accessible via the Mountainair Ranger District. At roughly 9,200 feet elevation, the campground provides striking views of the surrounding peaks, the Rio Grande Valley to the west, and the Estancia Valley to the east. The area is known for its ponderosa pine forests and diverse wildlife. The campground is small and primitive, with approximately six campsites equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. A single vault toilet serves the area, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring all drinking water. Trash service is not provided; pack out what you pack in. The campground supports equestrian camping, making it a good base for exploring nearby trails on horseback. Bosque Campground operates year-round on a first-come, first-served basis and does not accept reservations. Services may be reduced or unavailable at times, particularly during winter months. Check current fire restrictions before visiting, as Stage 1 restrictions may limit campfires to agency-provided fire rings only.

Directions

From Mountainair, NM, head east on US-60 for approximately 1 mile. Turn left onto NM-55 N and continue for about 9 miles. Turn right onto Forest Road 422 and proceed for 2 miles to reach Bosque Campground.
