About
Figueroa Campground occupies a scenic pedestal at approximately 4,000 feet on Figueroa Mountain in the Santa Lucia Ranger District of Los Padres National Forest. The campground is surrounded by red manzanita and a canopy of oak and pine trees, creating a shaded retreat that stays cool even when valleys below are hot. Spring visitors are treated to one of Southern California's premier wildflower displays, attracting photographers and nature enthusiasts from across the region. The campground has 33 sites spread across two loops, with 25 available through the recreation.gov reservation system and the remainder on a first-come, first-served basis. Each site features a fire ring, pedestal barbecue, and picnic table. Three wheelchair-accessible double vault toilets serve the campground. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Nights can be cold even in summer, so warm clothing is recommended. Figueroa Mountain Road provides access and connects to several trailheads including the Davy Brown/Fir Canyon Trail, Ballard Trail, and paths leading into the San Rafael Wilderness. The scenic Figueroa Lookout Road offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and distant ocean.
