About
Fremont Campground is a family-friendly facility located in the Santa Barbara Ranger District of Los Padres National Forest, about 18 miles from Santa Barbara. The campground features 14 sites nestled in a shady oak forest at approximately 1,000 feet elevation. Sites are equipped with picnic tables, fire rings with grills, and pedestal grills. The campground has paved roads throughout the hilly terrain, though some sites require a short walk from parking spurs. The location provides excellent access to outdoor recreation. The Santa Ynez River runs along the last 6 miles of Paradise Road, offering water recreation opportunities. Nearby Cachuma Lake Recreation Area provides boating, kayaking, and fishing on a no-body-contact reservoir. Hikers can explore the Aliso National Recreation Trail, a popular 2.5-mile loop near the campground, or the more challenging 18-mile Santa Cruz Trail that connects to numerous other routes. Mountain biking and horseback riding trails are plentiful, and the Camuesa OHV Route is within 10 miles. The campground operates with 13 reservable sites and 1 first-come-first-served site on a 6-month rolling reservation window through Recreation.gov. Large accessible sites are available. Firewood can be purchased from the campground host for $6. The closest dump station is at Cachuma Lake. Campers should watch for abundant poison oak throughout the area.
Directions
From Santa Barbara, take Highway 101 northwest about 10 miles to Highway 154. Turn right on Highway 154 and continue about 9 miles. Turn right on Paradise Road and follow for 2.5 miles to the campground.
