About
Nestled on beautiful Figueroa Mountain at 2,157 feet elevation, Davy Brown Campground offers some of the most tranquil camping in Los Padres National Forest. The 13 sites are spread across two loops along the serenely flowing Davy Brown Creek, where diminutive waterfalls and swimming holes provide relief on hot summer days. The surrounding mountains are covered with valley oak, blue oak, live oak, and gray pine, with manzanita, coffeeberry, and redberry shrubs. The campground is home to diverse birdlife including kingfishers, juncos, Steller's jays, white-breasted nuthatches, warblers, and migrating western tanagers visible from spring through August. From mid-August to late September, the area is popular with hunters during deer season. Fishing is prohibited in Davy Brown Creek. Davy Brown Campground serves as the starting point for several trails, including the spectacular Davy Brown/Fir Canyon Trail. Two miles further along Sunset Valley Road are the Lower Manzana and Upper Manzana Trailheads, providing entry points to the majestic San Rafael Wilderness. The nearby towns of Los Olivos, Santa Ynez, Solvang, and Buellton are within an hour's drive, though the nearest supplies are 35 minutes away.
Directions
