About

Cradled in the beautiful Sunset Valley of Los Padres National Forest, Davy Brown Campground offers 13 scenic campsites along the peaceful Davy Brown Creek. Each campsite features a fire ring, pedestal barbecue, and picnic table, with vault toilets available throughout the campground. The campground is surrounded by mountains covered with valley oak, blue oak, live oak, and gray pine, with manzanita, coffeeberry, and redberry shrubs filling out the understory. The creek provides relief during hot summer days with swimming holes and small waterfalls. Birdwatchers can spot kingfishers, juncos, Stellar jays, white-breasted nuthatches, warblers, and migrating western tanagers from spring through August. The campground serves as the starting point for the Davy Brown/Fir Canyon Trail, and the Lower Manzana and Upper Manzana trailheads are just two miles further, providing entry to the San Rafael Wilderness. The area is popular with hunters during deer season from mid-August through late September. Note that no potable water is available, and campers should bring gnat and mosquito repellent during warmer months.
