About

Moose Manor at Mesa Lakes Recreation Area provides guests the opportunity to stay overnight in a historic Forest Service ranger station constructed in the 1930s. The cabin housed many rangers before becoming a rental property. Located just 45 minutes from Grand Junction on the north side of Grand Mesa National Forest, the semi-rustic dwelling sits at 9,500 feet elevation in a stand of aspen and spruce trees, near Sunset Lake and Jumbo Reservoir. The cabin features modern amenities including electricity for lighting and heat, a flush toilet and shower, refrigerator, electric cooking stove, microwave, and a fireplace. Standard sleeping accommodations include four twin beds and one queen sofa sleeper, with space for air mattresses or cots to accommodate up to 8 guests total. A large grass yard ideal for family gatherings and weddings fronts the property. The area offers excellent hiking, mountain biking, and fishing opportunities. West Bench Trail #501 connects the seven lakes of the Mesa Lakes Recreation Area and is popular for mountain biking and horseback riding. A carry-down boat ramp for canoeing and kayaking is within walking distance. From mid-August through October, extensive golden aspen stands provide stunning fall colors.
