Massasoit State Park encompasses over 1,200 heavily wooded acres on the southeast side of Taunton, Massachusetts, featuring a 126-site campground in a beautiful forested setting. The park includes six lakes and ponds, including Lake Rico, offering diverse recreational opportunities for camping families. Campers can enjoy swimming at designated beaches (for registered guests only), launch non-motorized boats from the boat ramp, and fish in the park's abundant ponds. The extensive trail system provides excellent mountain biking on routes like the Five Pond Loop and Adams Trail, as well as hiking through forests and scenic cranberry bogs. The park is especially beautiful in fall when scarlet cranberry bogs contrast with evergreen pines. The campground features both tent and RV sites with optional water and electric hookups, accessible bathhouses, a playground, and dumping facilities. The park prohibits alcohol and off-road vehicles. Activities extend year-round with cross-country skiing and hunting opportunities in season. Reservations are handled through ReserveAmerica with advance booking required.
