About
Mary Smith Campground is a scenic walk-in tent campground located two miles north of Lewiston on Trinity Lake within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Recognized as one of California's prettiest lake campgrounds, the sites are tucked into a lush riparian environment featuring conifers, deciduous trees, a thick understory, and abundant wildflowers. Privacy between campsites ranges from fair to outstanding, with each site offering views of the lake and Trinity Alps.
The campground has 12 traditional tent sites and 6 glamping yurt units. Sites 2-9 are clustered near the entrance, while the remaining sites are walk-in and grouped in smaller clusters. The glamping units feature queen beds with down comforters, linens, nightstands, rugs, and front decks with seating. All sites include a fire ring and picnic table. Facilities include both flush and vault toilets and potable drinking water.
Trinity Lake offers excellent fishing opportunities for rainbow, brown, and brook trout, with particularly good conditions for float tubes and fly fishing. No motorized boats exceeding 10 mph are allowed in the campground area. No trailers are permitted, making this a tent-camping and glamping destination only.
