About
Coopers Gulch Campground occupies a scenic waterfront location on Lewiston Lake, approximately 4 miles north of the historic town of Lewiston and 17 miles from Weaverville. The campground features 5 paved campsites designed for accessibility, each furnished with a picnic table and fire ring. Sites are nestled in a mixed forest of conifers and deciduous trees with abundant wildflowers and every site offers views of the lake.
Lewiston Lake stretches about 5 miles long, reaches depths of 70 feet, and sits at 1,902 feet elevation. The lake is renowned for excellent fishing, with rainbow trout abundant and brown and brook trout common. The 10 mph speed limit makes it ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and float tube fishing. The adjacent Cooper Gulch Day Use Area provides 5 parking spaces for anglers and hikers accessing the Baker Gulch Trail. Pine Cove boat ramp is within 4 miles, and Fairview launching area on Trinity Lake is 9 miles north.
The campground is fully wheelchair accessible with paved trails and facilities. A camp host is present during the operating season. This small, quiet facility appeals to those seeking a waterfront camping experience focused on fishing, paddling, and wildlife viewing in the Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area.
