Open — The campground is currently open for reservations. Due to an unanticipated water leak, potable water is not available; campers should bring their own water.

About

Marion Mountain Campground, situated at an elevation of 6,400 feet in the San Bernardino National Forest, offers approximately two dozen campsites suitable for tent and small RV/van camping. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and a campfire ring with a grill. Vault toilets are available within the campground. The campground provides access to the Marion Mountain Trail, an 11.8-mile route leading to San Jacinto Peak. This trail is the shortest but also one of the most strenuous paths to the summit, offering expansive views of Southern California, including the ocean, Palm Desert, and surrounding mountain ranges. Located approximately 50 miles from San Bernardino and seven miles north of Idyllwild, the campground is nestled among mature cedar and pine trees, providing ample shade and privacy between sites. As of August 8, 2025, the campground is open for reservations. However, due to an unanticipated water leak within the water distribution system, potable water is not currently available. Campers are advised to bring ample water for drinking and cooking.
