About

Low Gap Campground offers what the Forest Service describes as close to a dispersed camping experience with basic amenities. This 13-site developed campground sits along Low Gap Creek in the Chattahoochee Wildlife Management Area, just a few miles from the alpine village of Helen, Georgia. Each site features a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern post, with bear-resistant trash receptacles stationed throughout the campground. The campground is reservation-only through Recreation.gov with no first-come, first-served sites available. A single vault toilet is located across the bridge at the back of the campground. Note that potable water is no longer available as the well systems have been permanently decommissioned. Campers must bring all drinking and cooking water. Low Gap Creek flowing through the campground is stocked with trout weekly from April through July by the Georgia DNR. The area provides access to several popular waterfalls including Ravens Cliff Falls, Dukes Creek Falls, and Anna Ruby Falls, all within a short drive. Due to narrow, curving, and steep roads, RVs over 28 feet are not recommended. Maximum stay is 14 days per 30-day period.
