WHERE...Moffat, Routt, Jackson, Grand, Rio Blanco, Garfield, Eagle, Summit, Gilpin, Clear Creek, Mesa, Pitkin, Lake, Park, Delta, Gunnison, Chaffee, Montrose, Ouray, San Miguel, Dolores, and northern parts of Montezuma and Saguache Counties. Locations include, but are not limited to Craig, Steamboat Springs, Walden, Granby, Hot Sulphur Springs, Kremmling, Meeker, Rangely, Glenwood Springs, Eagle, Vail, Breckenridge, Central City, Georgetown, Grand Junction, Aspen, Leadville, Fairplay, Delta, Gunnison, Buena Vista, Salida, Montrose, Nucla, Ouray, Telluride, Dove Creek, and Saguache. WHEN...900 AM Wednesday July 01 to 900 AM Thursday July 02 IMPACTS...Areas downwind of large fires in southwestern Colorado and southeastern Utah could have periods of moderate to heavy smoke through at least Thursday morning. HEALTH INFORMATION...Public Health Recommendations: If smoke is thick or becomes thick in your neighborhood you may want to remain indoors. This is especially true for those with heart disease, respiratory illnesses, the very young, and older adults. Consider limiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present. Consider relocating temporarily if smoke is present indoors and is making you ill. If visibility is less than 5 miles in smoke in your neighborhood, smoke has reached levels that are unhealthy.
About
Lottis Creek Campground is located in the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests along the shores of Lottis Creek in the Taylor River Canyon. At 8,600 feet elevation, the campground features 47 single-family sites nestled among lodgepole pines, most equipped with electric hookups. A group site accommodating up to 50 people and 10 vehicles includes a pavilion. The facility was completely renovated in 2012. The campground serves as an excellent base for multiple outdoor activities. Anglers can fish Lottis Creek on-site or venture to the nearby Taylor River and Taylor Park Reservoir, which offers boating, swimming, and boat rentals. Hikers and equestrians can access the Fossil Ridge Wilderness Area just two miles south, where no motorized vehicles are permitted. Four-wheel drive enthusiasts will find numerous trails accessible via Cumberland Pass Road to the east. Vault toilets and potable water from a hand pump are available. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. OHV use is prohibited within the campground itself, and quiet hours run from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Directions
From Gunnison, drive north on Highway 135 for 10 miles to Almont. At the intersection with County Road 742 (Taylor Canyon Road), turn east and continue 16.7 miles to the campground sign. Turn right into the campground.
