About

Dinner Station Campground is located in the Upper Taylor Park area of Gunnison National Forest, adjacent to the Taylor River. The site served as a historic stop along an old stagecoach route from Aspen. Today it attracts off-road enthusiasts, mountain bikers, and anglers seeking rainbow and brook trout in the Taylor River. The campground features 22 sites nestled among ponderosa and lodgepole pine trees at the edge of a broad, flat valley dotted with sagebrush. Most campsites offer views of the Taylor River on one side and the Sawatch Mountains on the other. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Nearby trails include Doctor Park Trail, Taylor River Trail, and Taylor Vista Trail. Taylor Park Reservoir is less than five miles away, offering boating, fishing, swimming, a boat ramp, and boat rentals.

Directions

From Gunnison, travel north on Colorado Highway 135 for 10 miles to Almont. Turn right (northeast) onto Taylor Canyon Road (County Road 724/Forest Road 742) and continue approximately 32-35 miles. The road changes to improved dirt after the Cottonwood Pass Road turnoff. The campground entrance is on the left.
