About

Lakeview Campground occupies a prime position above Taylor Park Reservoir in the Gunnison National Forest at 9,400 feet elevation. The sites are nestled among ponderosa and lodgepole pine trees on a broad valley floor dotted with sagebrush, with most sites offering views of the reservoir and the surrounding Sawatch Mountains. Taylor Park Reservoir is the main draw, offering boating, swimming, and excellent fishing for northern pike, kokanee salmon, and rainbow, brown, brook, and cutthroat trout. A boat ramp is located just below the campground, and the nearby marina offers fishing and pontoon boat rentals. The surrounding area features extensive off-road vehicle trails and mountain biking opportunities, including Doctor Park Trail, Taylor River Trail, and Taylor Vista Trail. The campground provides 49 sites across several categories: tent-only, standard nonelectric, RV nonelectric, and standard electric sites. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets, potable water, and trash collection are provided. Some sites are ADA accessible. OHV use is not permitted within the campground itself.
